ACT composite score चार section scores (English, Math, Reading, Science) का average है, जो nearest whole number पर round होता है। हर section 1-36 पर score होता है। उदाहरण: English 28, Math 26, Reading 30, Science 24 हो तो composite = (28+26+30+24)/4 = 27।

ACT का national average लगभग 20 है। 24+ score तुम्हें top 25% test takers में रखता है। 30+ scores top 5% में हैं और selective colleges के लिए competitive हैं। Ivy League, MIT, Stanford जैसी universities के लिए 33+ को target करो। लेकिन 'अच्छा' तुम्हारे target schools पर depend करता है।

ACT benchmarks यह predict करते हैं कि corresponding college courses में B या better मिलने की 50% chance है। Benchmarks हैं: English 18, Math 22, Reading 22, Science 23। इन्हें meet करना उस subject में college-level readiness suggest करता है। बहुत से students कुछ benchmarks exceed करते हैं पर सब नहीं।

ज्यादातर colleges दोनों को equally accept करते हैं। दोनों के practice tests try करो और देखो कौन सा better लगता है। ACT में Science section है और ज्यादा straightforward है; SAT में Science नहीं है पर reading analysis ज्यादा है। ACT पूरा multiple choice है (optional essay छोड़कर); SAT में कुछ grid-in math questions हैं।

ज्यादातर students ACT 2-3 बार देते हैं। Practice से scores typically improve होते हैं—average improvement 1-3 points होती है। बहुत से colleges superscore करते हैं (multiple tests से best section scores लेते हैं), तो retake करना help कर सकता है। 3 attempts के बाद usually diminishing returns होते हैं।
